Tom "Razzo" Matarazzo was born and raised in Baltimore. From a very early age, he loved to draw and paint but chose not to pursue art as a career. Instead he chose law enforcement and joined the Baltimore Police Department. He enjoyed making various crafts in his free time and was the scenic artist for many years at the F. Scott Black Dinner Theatre in Towson. His scenery was seen in various school and community theatre productions. Success in what is perhaps his favorite genre, Baltimore screen painting, helped him make a name for himself in the local art scene.
After serving in the police department for 27 years, he retired and began to seriously consider opening his own shop. In March 2003 that dream became a reality when he, his wife Angie and friend Martha opened MataWood Creations on the Avenue in Hampden. In 2005, Tom ventured out on his own to establish another shop, Razzo.
Tom and Angie have two grown daughters, Lisa and Teresa, a son-in-law named Chris and a son-in-law named Murad. They are the proud grandparents of budding artist Maggie and her little brother Jacob.
Honfest 2007 was a big success. Maggie visited Pop and helped him with a painted screen demonstration. Here she is with one of her finished screens.
Congratulations to Teresa & Murad on their wedding
